Really nice initial 23 chapters setting up what's looking to be a promising series of cryptid-focused adventures, conspiracies, and tightly-paced action scenes that feature a simplistic but fun magic system. I'm a big fan of the small American town setting, but I think the real strengths of this book are it's characters, plot, and fight scenes. Definitely worth getting invested in this story while it's still in it's early stages.
This novel held me captivated for months. It presents a perilous world where fantasy and reality intertwine, populated by a cast of vivid, three-dimensional characters and a tightly-woven, fast-paced plot. The result is an exceptionally thrilling and satisfying read.
